The East Syriac tradition (The Church of the East) is known to have established two distinct historical footholds in China: the Jingjiao community (often termed “Nestorian Christianity”) during the Tang dynasty, and the Yelikewen community during the Yuan dynasty. HKIJS is dedicated to the rigorous study of these traditions and, should materials and evidence—textual, archaeological, or otherwise—warrant it, remains open to exploring Christian expressions beyond these established historical frameworks.
