Jingjiao Studies Today: Sources, Methods, and Emerging Directions
David Tam. Journal for the Study of Religion and History, No. 4 (2026): 21–70.

This article surveys major areas of recent Jingjiao research to assess the present state of the field and identify emerging directions in discovery and method. It examines recent scholarship on Turfan and Tangchaodun, Yishen lun, Xuting mishisuo jing, the Jingjiao Stele, P. 3847 and the writings listed in Zunjing, as well as materials from Inner Mongolia and Quanzhou and debates concerning manuscript authenticity. Particular attention is given to the interaction between broad historical reconstruction and close examination of individual manuscripts, inscriptions, objects and archaeological sites.
